Eye Clinic
Programs:
In 1998 IRIS
constructed Cambodia's first purpose-built eye clinic, the
IRIS Clinic in Kampong Cham province. In 2004, The Ministry
of Health asked IRIS to construct a second clinic in the province,
which, with its population of 1.6 million, is the most densely
populated province in Cambodia. Mr Karolos Fix (a long standing
supporter of IRIS in Cambodia) and a number of his friends
agreed to provide the funds needed to construct the new clinic
in Tboung Khmum District which was opened in May 2005.
During 2007,
IRIS subsidised cataract and other eye surgeries for poor
people at 6 eye clinics in 5 provinces: Kampong Cham (2),
Siem Reap, Pursat, Battambang & Kampot. Program outcomes
